Sebi’s New Haircut March ‘10

March 31st, 2010 Ovidiu Curca 1 comment

Today we took sebi for his second haircut. His hair was out of control so we decided to give him an haircut. I took a few pictures with my phone right after the cut. He looks much older with the new hairdo. We could not believe our eyes. Before the cut we had a baby and now we have a little boy.

Here are a few more shots: MobileMe Gallery – Sebi’s New Haircut March ‘10.

Rockport, MA March ‘10

MobileMe Gallery – Rockport, MA March ‘10.

Today we visited Rockport, MA, a nice town by the ocean. We went for a hike and we had a little picnic by the ocean.  It might seem cold in the pictures, but it was actually in the 50s. For those in California I know that 50s is COLD. But, after seeing -5 or so, 50 is baking hot.

D.C. Visit 2009

MobileMe Gallery – D.C. Visit 2009.

At the end of last year we visited Alin and Cati (My brother and sister in law) in D.C. They were great hosts. We were there for a few days. They have an old dog, Archi, that is 4 years my dog’s senior. My dog is 12 years old so needless to say we had 2 old dogs trying to stay alive.

D.C. was cold. But we did manage to see the White House. We saw Obama for a few moments and, after shooting some hoops, we spent the rest of the evening watching the Lakers. (for those of us that are a little to serious … we did not really saw Obama, nor did we play ball with him)

Anyway, here are a few pictures MobileMe Gallery – D.C. Visit 2009.

New Links for our Pictures and Photos

My Galley  – Pictures and Videos

I decided to try to live without Google. Why would I do that? Well,  I think Google is getting to big and I wanted to see if I can use the web without it. As one can imagine this is not easy but I wanted to see if it is possible. As a result, I stopped using gmail, and moved my videos and pictures from youtube and picasa. I am hosting my online content at me.com, a service I already had. So far I love that I can see my pictures and my videos on the same page. The Gallery App on my phone also gives me access to my gallery on the go. Also, the me.com email is great. I am trying to see if I can get used to bing. That might prove to be the hardest one.

All the pictures and videos previously posted on my site are not working anymore. You can find them by clicking the ling at the bottom or by going to www.gallery.me.com/ovidiucurca.

Mt Auburn Cemetery Shots

IMG_4201

Mt Auburn Cemetery is about 5 minutes walk from our house. I went over today and it is a really nice place. The architecture is amazing and there are quite a few different species of birds. I started taking a few shots (which don’t do justice to this place), and then it started pouring. This place will look great in autumn when all the leaves will be on the ground and in winter. I will defiantly go back and take some better shots when it is not raining. I was all wet but thankfully my camera is ok.

Zoo Visit

Sebi and I went to the Zoo today. We had lots of fun even though the zoo was almost empty. Who knew people are working on Thursday? Anyway … we saw all the usual suspects: lions, tigers, zebras, rinos, elephant, monkeys, you name it – we saw it. The coolest part was the forest. In this enclosure (literary a forest) there were between 100 to 200 dears. You can walk in and enjoy the dears in their habitat. The fun part is that the animals come up to you ; you can feed and pet them. I managed to snick a couple of shots here and there but not to manny since my boy would not stay still.

Multumesc Bica

cu bunicii 1

Multumesc Bica pentru tot ceea ce ai facut pentru noi. Multumesc pentru ca ai avut grija de noi in fiecare vara cand eram copii. Multumesc ca, pentru 3 luni in fiecare an, ti-ai deschis casa sa primesti trei copii nazdravani. Multumesc! Thank you grandma.

My grandma passed away Tuesday 8.4.09. Here are some picture from 2003. After Moni and I got married we went and visited my grandparents. They were so sweet to Moni.

Walking by the Charles River

Picasa Web Albums – My big boy

IMG_4090A few pictures we shoot while walking by the Charles River. This particular place is probably one mile from our apartment. There are people biking, walking, canoeing, barbecuing, or simply sitting on the grass. Also, there is a nice water park where Sebi loves to play. A couple of pictures are from downtown Boston.

We moved to Boston!

June 29th, 2009 Ovidiu Curca 2 comments

img_2916 The Curcas have picked up the caravan and moved across the country to Boston, MA. Yup, we have done it and there’s no way back (for now). We began considering this move last summer.  While I was finishing up school, Moni was applying to grad school. Meanwhile we were working full time with Back2Back Marketing and raising our boy. Time went by fast and, after my wife was accepted at Brandeis University, we decided to move. At the end of May we sold most of our stuff, pretty much everything except what I could fit in my Honda minivan. I started driving on June 2, while Monica and Sebi flew in on the 8th. The drive was incredible, one of those once in a life time experiences. I saw the deserts  of Arizona, the Colorado mountains, the plains, Chicago, Cleveland (I saw the king James’ picture by the arena), Buffalo, New York, and the beautiful Massachusetts. Before I knew it I was in Boston. On the 8th I was joined by Monica and Sebi.

The first few days we stayed at an inn. After viewing a couple of apartments we were disappointed thinking that it would not be easy to find a place. Yet, with God’s grace, we found a beautiful apartment in Watertown, Ma. Our place is about 7 miles from Boston Common (the greatest park in Boston), and a mile and half from Harvard Square and Harvard University. We are about 4 miles from Brandeis, which is not that bad of a commute. We have a couple of parks within a 5 min walking distance, and a mall within 10 min. We managed to paint the apartment to our liking, and furnish it as much as possible.                       In the few week we have been here we got a little taste of the city. The weather is a “little different” than California but LETS leave that one alone. The city is much more urban than LA. People are walking, biking, taking the bus or metro pretty much everywhere. There are little shops at every corner selling all kind of goods.  We really like living in a very multi-cultural area of Boston, any given day at the park you can hear about 5-10 different languages.  Also we are in a Greek and Armenian neighborhood so the 3 closet mom and pop grocery stores are all middle eastern food.  Monica loves this because anytime she needs some extra ingredients its right there.  We are very happy and know that we have been led by the Lord here.  We do ask that you join us as we pray for God’s continued provisions on our life.   Please pray for us to find a church that preaches the word of God and lives out a life of victorious faith (very few and far between). Please pray forme (Ovi) to find a job that will provide for us.  Please pray for us to make friends and become part of a community.  (its getting a little lonely not having our friends and family here, we really miss you guys.) Sebi is getting bigger everyday and is talking more and more we are constantly shocked to see that he understands most of what we say (in English and Romanian); please pray that we can find some good childcare for him this coming fall.  And lastly please pray that God will prepare Monica to be diligent in her studies and that while it will be a big change for her she will transition seemlessly. Thank you so much.

Friends and Kids

img_3492Picasa Web Albums – Mihai – San Francisco friends and Kids.

Last Sunday we took a quick trip up to San Francisco to see our friend Cora from Deva.  We did the typical tourist things: boat ride around the bay, embarcadero walk and WE sans Sebi got to go on a date to little Italy.  It was really nice to visit with Cora – she is a nanny for three kids, only one of them Anika age 2 1/2 joined us.  She is a real cutie, Sebi and her had a two day romance that ended abruptly when we had to leave on Tuesday night at 9 pm.
